THE BLACK RIVER - AVAILABLE NOW
Grunge and glamour collide with classic rock roots on The Black River – a record which sounds that it
could have only have been conceived in a cell by none other than the Jailbirds. Over the course of the
last three years, the power trio – consisting of the intricate guitar work and powerful vocals from Myke
Penney, the sludgy bass lines of Liam Hills, and the pounding drums of Eric Parent – have performed
extensively across Ontario demonstrating, both in the studio and on the stage; they’re a band you
simply must hear.
Winners of Best Rock Band at the 2018 Mississauga Music Awards, Jailbirds have a sound that is equally
influenced by classic rock, grunge, and modern rock icons, and they consistently perform from Windsor to Montreal –
and everywhere in between.
Released on January 25th 2019, The
Black River has drawn comparisons to the likes of Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Royal Blood and Alter
Bridge. Recorded through the course of 2017 with Matt Grady at London, Ontario’s EMAC Studios,
Jailbirds shine bright as one of the most promising up and coming independent bands on their debut
four track EP. Beyond their impressive performance and songwriting, The Black River is further
highlighted by tastefully selected gear, crafted tones, and the sound of Myke's ’03 natural mahogany
Gibson Explorer ripping throughout the sonic atmosphere.
As they continue to tour in support of The Black River throughout 2019, the band is currently in the
works of putting together a series of music videos to accompany each track from the record; ultimately
making 2019 a very exciting time for the Jailbirds. The Black River Tour will take Jailbirds across Ontario
and Quebec with performances scheduled between April and August, with more being confirmed all the time.
